ANSWER THE CALL - SAVE OUR SOLDIER!
Fundraising
Fundraising for the Union Soldier Statue restoration began in 2006. It is anticipated the project will be essentially complete and the statue restored to its rightful place in 2011. In an outpouring of generosity, hundreds of individuals and organizations have donated to the project.
The total cost to restore, rebuild and create the statue, base, foundation, and surrounding Veterans Concourse is approximately $60,000.
In October, 2010, the William Chandler Peterson American Legion Post #171 donated an additional $9,000 to the project, which brings us up to a fundraising level to authorize our conservator to complete the statue restoration and rifle replacement! The Society is especially grateful to this group of veterans, not only for their service to our country, but for their generosity to this project.
As with any construction project, cost over-runs and unforseen circumstances do occur. Any overage received beyond the required funds will be retained in our Perpetual Care fund for the Union Soldier Statue.
